When love became an act of defiance

I hear your heart beating in your chest
The world slows 'till there's nothing left
Skyscrapers look on like great, unblinking giants

Morgan wasn't wrong about that, it was a cliche as old as time but some people still acted out against those with nerdier appearances and Jonathan never really understood the reason for it. It suited the other rather well though.

Jonathan easily seems to be falling for the other in some sense every time Morgan laughs or keeps smiling at him. It makes it rather difficult not to stare or duck his head or fidget with his bracelet even more. "Better late then never to say hello, it seems." He does wonder if the other was a bit of a loner with how he mentioned he mostly kept to himself.

"Do you... uh... wanna grab coffee or something? I have time to spare before my next class and I can help carry those if you'd like?" He asks, motioning to the other's books on the desk. Who knows when the next class using the hall would file in but he thought best to, at least, not stick around here until they do. It would be a bit of an icebreaker if the other accepted.

"I mean, its usually at a house party where I'm not like... this." He gives a general motion to himself, not exactly keeping his gaze on Morgan at the moment. He can drink to give himself liquid courage, though it takes quite a few bottles and cups to get to that point. Its easier to seem cooler than he was unlike in this particular instance. Obviously around other students, he's a little more put together and less of a mess.

Jonathan easily flusters more, rubbing at the back of his neck, "I-I mean we don't have to, I just thought it would be the easiest option than the library or one of the tables outside." He finds it a little odd how easily he crumbles around Morgan and he's not sure if its just nerves or something more.

Morgan's reassuring comment that he didn't completely screw this up with his suggestion for coffee helps settle his rising nervousness. There was that soft chuckle and Jonathan feels like a moth to the flame. He gives the other a shy smile, "There's the cafe by the language building if that works for you?"

Jonathan opens his mouth to reply but instead turns his head slightly and gives a breathy little laugh. He didn't think he'd get more embarrassed than he already was but Morgan made it so easy. "I guess you can say that. It's not my typical scene but you're the exception." Not that he wouldn't help someone with their knocked over books but he likely wouldn't have asked them out for coffee.

He grabs a good portion of Morgan's books, if not all of them, once Morgan confirmed the destination, "Cafe, it is then." Jonathan doesn't move away from the other just yet, tilting his head as if processing Morgan's question.

"I don't see why not. I don't have anything else more exciting than this." Of course, he'd give the other his practical undivided attention while he was able. It's then that he slowly walks backward before turning around to walk down the steps of the lecture hall. He already made a fool of himself already, it would be best not to add falling down class stairs on top of that.

He wasn't expecting Morgan to loop his arm around his nor looking up at him the way he was, now he feels like he's back at square one again. Being flustered. Heart racing a bit. "Y-yeah, this is fine." He smiles sheepishly.

Jonathan knows that minor hallway gossip is going to erupt the second they leave the room and he doesn't mind. Its not like what anyone says really gets to him,"Yeah... I guess this would count as a date."

He adjusts his hold on Morgan's books as they make their way towards the on campus cafe, "Too be honest, cafes usually aren't my first choice for first dates." He chuckles a bit, "As much as they're relaxing. If you enjoyed by company after, I wouldn't mind taking you out again. Somewhere with more than just coffee and teas."
